Paarl: Pretoria Capitals defended a below-par total to claim a thrilling 21-run victory over Paarl Royals in a high-temperature encounter at Boland Park during the Betway SA20. Capitals posted 138/9, with Sherfane Rutherford anchoring the innings with a brilliant 42* off 35 balls, including two sixes in the final over. Shai Hope also chipped in with 22 runs.
The Royals struggled on a slow pitch, pegged back early by Lungi Ngidi (1/35) and supported by Keshav Maharaj (2/14), Lizaad Williams (1/21), and Gideon Peters (1/11). Rubin Hermann’s 35 off 37 offered hope, but the chase faltered, and David Miller’s 45 off 36 balls couldn’t bridge the gap.

Capitals now sit level on 15 points with the Royals but hold the advantage in Net Run Rate (0.016).
